While most people agree that children reading books and childrens educational toys are fun and entertaining for them, they are also actually among the most important possessions they will ever use.

We don’t tend to think of the books and childrens educational toys we grew up with as being integral parts of our adult lives but the truth is that reading books and playing have shaped us in ways we almost never consciously think about. They had a very important role in shaping the types of things we find important or not important, the foods we eat, the activities we do or don’t do, the work we engage in and the people we interact with. They give us a framework with which all of these things mean something particular – in other words, a context to make real meaning of our lives.

Take a look next time at when You Are Reading your children books.  Children reading books with a fascinating story and well thought out  childrens educational toys are nothing like any video game or TV show could ever match because their minds get engaged in a way that really brings out something at the very core of who they are. They will be affected by these experiences and will gravitate to some versus others. Pay attention to and nurture their choices! You’ll do more for them than sending them to the best schools could ever hope to accomplish.

Take the time to notice these and nurture the reading choices your children are making – what books they are being drawn to. Too often we tell them to use their imaginations and then spend the rest of their childhood giving them all sorts of cues and signals to follow and obey and behave in accordance with external guidelines… as though this will somehow prepare them to make a real difference in the world. Yet those among us who have made the most amazing and spectacular contributions to humankind have always lived out of a powerful story out which comes from a wellspring of something internal and deeply meaningful.
